Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz-2 will be issued in the field of natural gas via Turkey to Europe Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) project "Environmental and Social Impact Assessment" (ESIA) process began on January, 2013. The project, to contribute to the energy security of natural gas transported to Europe through Turkey aims to diversify the natural gas supply to both our countries.

 

June 26, 2012 at the intergovernmental agreements signed and the first partners in the consortium created to TANAP adopted in Azerbaijan and Turkey parliament SOCAR (Azerbaijan Republic State Oil Company), BOTAS (Petroleum Pipeline Corporation) and TPAO from (Turkey Petroleum Joint Stock Company). In the project, which is one of the largest energy projects in the world, the share of BOTAŞ and TPAO in the middle has been determined as 20% and SOCAR as 80%. TANAP project in the first place (2020) the annual flow of 16 billion m3 of natural gas and 6 billion m3 of this section, connecting the two points in Eskisehir and Thrace to the national grid, is targeted for use in Turkey.

 

The construction of the natural gas pipeline project, which will be operated for 49 years, is expected to start at the end of 2014 and the first gas flow will start in 2018 after 3 years.

From Turkey's border with Georgia (Ardahan Posof District) starting, Greece (Edirne Ipsala District) and / or on the border with Bulgaria (Kırklareli province, Kofçaz District) is approximately the length of the pipeline will end 1900 km.

 

The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report is designed to reveal all environmental, social and socio-economic impacts, especially physical, biological, cultural, that may occur during the design phase of the pipeline and during the construction, operation and termination phases, within the framework of local legislation and international standards. will be prepared in order to take necessary measures.

 

Between 25 February-11 March 2013 in Ardahan, Kars, Erzurum, Erzincan, Bayburt, Gümüşhane, Giresun, Sivas, Yozgat, Kırşehir, Kırıkkale, Ankara, Eskişehir, Bilecik, Kütahya, Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Edirne, Tekirdağ and Kırklareli. “Public Participation Meetings” (in 21 provinces) and “Scope and Special Format Determination” meeting were held on 14 March 2013.
